La vimos. Al final nos sentimos hastiados de tanta miseria humana. La acción discurre en Misuri, en una comunidad de fabricantes de anfetaminas, cultivadores de marihuana, traficantes y consumidores de drogas. Una sociedad sórdida, triste y sucia. Todo ello llega a reflejarse en una naturaleza que de otro modo sería hermosa.
We saw the movie. At the end we felt tired of seeing so much human misery. The action takes place in Missouri, in a community of amphetamine manufacturers, marijuana growers, drug traffickers and consumers. It's a sordid community, sad and dirty. This is all reflected in a natural setting that otherwise it would have been beautiful.

No es la típica película americana de acción rápida y grandes efectos especiales. Por el contrario, la acción es muy lenta. Los efectos especiales no son visuales, son mentales y si el espectador no está muy atento puede perder elementos esenciales.
It's not the typical fast action and great special effects American film. On the contrary, the action is very slow, the special effects are not visual, but mental and if the viewer is not very alert he can miss essential elements.

Estamos acostumbrados a contemplar en el cine y en la vida, la escena inversa, la de jóvenes con padres sacrificados y ejemplares a los que no les falta de nada y que se entregan al hedonismo y a las drogas.
We are just to watching in film and in life the reverse scenario, young people with exemplary and devoted parents, examples of those who have everything and are given over to hedonism and drugs.

Ree Dolly, criada en una sociedad que no le ha ofrecido ningún buen ejemplo entre sus seres cercanos ni ninguna comodidad, se esfuerza por sacar adelante a sus hermanos menores y cuidar de su madre psíquicamente enferma y que es totalmente dependiente. Les alimenta y les enseña a cazar ardillas, les lleva a la escuela y les ayuda con los deberes, les enseña valores y a comportarse con dignidad.
Ree Dolly, is raised in a society where she hasn't been offered any good example among those close to her, nor any comfort to give her strength so that she might give her younger siblings a good upbringing and take care of her mentally ill mather who is completely dependent. She feeds them with the squirrels they hunt, takes her siblings to school, helps them with their homework, teaches them values and how to behave with dignity.

De algún modo sí. Eso creo. Cuando el joven adolescente tiene que afirmarse a sí mismo, definir su identidad, tiene que hacerlo por contraste. Una figura solamente es visible en la medida en que contrasta con el fondo. Por eso es natural a la adolescencia el ser rebelde y contestatario.
